A bit about me...
My career in publishing started at Body Mind Spirit magazine in 1997. I worked on staff there as an editorial assistant; it's where I published my very first article in a national consumer magazine. From there I interned at Marie Claire, a dream opportunity. On staff at Family Circle, a women's general interest magazine, I wrote a medical news column and edited health and nutrition articles. From there I held various positions at other companies such as associate editor, research editor, proofreader, copywriter and marketing specialist.
In 2010, I started a freelance business; my first two clients were the March of Dimes and Patch.com. Not long after, I copyedited pages for Consumer Affairs and fact-checked select chapters of books for National Geographic. My experience as a freelancer also includes proofreading business and education books and editing health/nutrition articles. It's been a lot of fun. What I enjoy most, though, is writing.
Putting words together is extremely easy for me. I've been drawn to it since childhood. As a career, I've been a scribe for 25 years, both on staff and as a freelancer (see writing samples). Though I'm a writer first, I have extracted various editorial skills from every company I've worked at. Besides publishing, my career has zigged and zagged through the corporate world where I have proofread for a law firm, produced newsletters for a global aircraft manufacturer and provided global marketing materials for a hotel company. What I enjoy so much about freelancing is the ability to hone in on different editorial skills for each client; it's never boring!
My goal for corporate clients is the production of clear, consistent and high-quality content. My experience includes managing contributors and producing or contributing to reports, presentations, press releases, executive-level letters/speeches, website content and even the big mammoths — Request for Proposals (RFPs).
